The Dean of Students (DoS) leads and assists in providing exemplary programs and services designed to enhance students’ academic and personal success. As a senior leader in the Division of Student Affairs, reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, the DoS serves as a proactive solution-oriented advocate for student wellbeing and retention. The DoS oversees the Office of the Dean of Students (i.e., Student Conduct, Campus Assessment, Referral, & Evaluation Team management, and Interpersonal Violence Prevention) and has direct supervisory responsibilities for Disability Services; Student Counseling Services; and Student Health Services.
Lead and oversee investigation, adjudication, and processing of student cases referred to the Office of the DoS. Cases include academic & non-academic misconduct, students in distress, and crisis management. Serve as a resource to faculty and staff in dealing with student misconduct and students in distress.
Lead, oversee, and assess prevention education efforts relative to student conduct and care. Serve as chair of the Campus Assessment, Referral, & Evaluation (CARE) Team. Provide appropriate and effective responsive assistance to students and the university in crisis situations. Requires availability evenings and weekends in response to crisis and concerns as well as lead educational workshops.
Promote, support, and strengthen the University’s diversity and inclusion efforts. Effectively recruit, hire, educate, coach, supervise, and inspire top talent to create an engaged and healthy living-learning environment; including supervision of DoS Office staff, and directors for Disability Services; Student Counseling Services; and Student Health Services.
Maintain a culture of proactively addressing issues of student concern. Contribute to sustaining successful university recruitment, orientation, retention and graduation rates through use of data, research, programs, and special interventions.
Other duties as assigned (e.g., teaching, committee service).

Candidates must possess an earned master’s degree with substantive, progressively responsible leadership experience in overseeing student conduct. A successful background check is required. Valid U.S. driver’s license. The Dean of Students should demonstrate proven effectiveness at a Director or Dean level in student affairs or education administration.
