Headwaters School, a Pre-K through grade 12 independent day school serving 450 students across its three campuses in Austin, TX, is seeking a full time Digital Art & Design/Photography Teacher in our Middle and High School for the 2021-2022 academic year.

The course load for this position will include teaching five sections of Middle and High School Digital Art & Design/Photography courses plus one additional responsibility. Candidates will also be prepared to participate in the life of the school, including, but not limited to supervision of lunch, sponsoring a club, chaperoning trips, and other duties as assigned by the High School Director.
Teaching Job Requirements:
At least three years prior experience teaching digital design and/or photography in a Middle or High School setting
Bachelor's Degree required, degree in Graphic Design, Photography, Art, Education or a related field preferred
Extensive knowledge and understanding of the history of design, fine art photography, contemporary art practices and photography as fine art
Commitment to a professional studio practice and exhibition of art works
Understanding of both digital design and photography practices
Ideal candidates will possess the following skills:
International Baccalaureate (IB) Visual Arts experience and training, preferred
Advanced Degree, preferred
Working knowledge of a variety of artistic styles and visual art teaching methodologies
Strong commitment to equity and inclusion in the classroom

Ability to maintain calm and focus

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position and compensation is competitive for the greater Austin area.
