Dean of Students Job Announcement The LREI High School Dean of Students is a collaborative, student-centered progressive educator who believes in and helps cultivate the promise in each student. By example and in action, the Dean of Students supports our school’s mission and policies, communicating expectations and ensuring that students are adhering to successfully navigating our community’s expectations for integrity and safety, including restorative and disciplinary responses to promote student growth, accountability, and learning. An ideal candidate will have experience with both classroom teaching and advisory. Essential Roles and Responsibilities: - Proactively engage with, listen to, and support student voices and concerns, and work together toward community-focused resolution;
- Work with the High School Leadership team to support students and faculty in upholding the school’s community standards and the expectations related to discipline, academic integrity, and student behavior as outlined in the High School handbooks;
- Collaborate with the Director of Equity and Community and High School DEI Facilitator to develop programming in support of our culture of inclusion and best practices for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging;
- Work with the Wellness team and grade-level deans to respond to and monitor student concerns, both academic and behavioral, and help coordinate action plans supported by advisors, deans, learning support, and teachers;
- Design and implement a high school advisory program, creating a developmental scope and sequence that supports students’ identity development, social/emotional development, and leadership abilities;
- Support Grade-Level Deans in leading their grade advisory teams;
- Along with the Co-Principals and grade-level deans, plan and lead a positive and supportive onboarding and orientation process for new and returning students
- Serve as a point of contact and support for students/families impacted by issues such as harassment, bullying, discrimination, or sexual misconduct, able to respond with care and concern, and communicate with and plan with the Co-Principals in following school policies;
- Oversee student attendance in partnership with grade-level deans and support staff as a way to monitor health and wellness concerns
- Advise and train student leaders, in partnership with the Director of Equity and Community;
- Teach co-curricular classes during Life Lab, and support other program supervision as needed;
- And other responsibilities as assigned by the Co-Principals or the Director.

- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, along with strong systems thinking
- A passion for actively creating inclusive and equitable learning communities, based on a deep understanding about identity, and systemic bias and their interplay in schools and communities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- The ability both to advocate for students and hold them accountable to high standards
- The capacity to work flexibly and effectively in a fast-paced school environment
