Under direct supervision of the clinic manager and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, provides non-licensed medical support to medical care providers in an outpatient setting. Incumbent performs work which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations The Joint Commission (TJC).
Duties include but are not limited to: Rooming patients for OB/Gyn providers, stocking, cleaning, checking expiration dates, supply inventory, instrument processing, lab specimen processing and follow up. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics. Incumbent also demonstrates initiative, the ability to prioritize demands, and the ability to work in a team environment.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Demonstrated knowledge of Medical terminology training or certificate.
Five (5) years of Medical Assistant experience in an OBGYN clinic, including assisting with Gyn procedures.
Knowledge and training in patient care duties within the business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations of The Joint Commission (TJC).
Thorough knowledge and training in patient care, environmental care functions, equipment/supply management and cleaning/disinfecting the environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of online scheduling, universal precautions, and body mechanics.
Proven initiative and the ability to prioritize demands and to work in a team environment.
Experience with transgender patients.
Previous back office supervision experience.
Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
