The Position

Cardigan Mountain School seeks an experienced, committed, and dynamic educator to teach 8th-grade Physical Science for the 2021-2022 school year.  The teaching position is a full-time, 10-month position at Cardigan Mountain School, a boarding school for middle school boys in grades 6-9. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in science and a desire to facilitate a hands-on, inquiry-based curriculum.  Additionally, it will be necessary to have an interest or experience in integrating technology, math, and engineering into the science classroom.   

Specific Responsibilities

The Physical Science Teacher will:

  • Teach a full course load of Physical Science
  • Coach two athletic seasons or perform comparable non-athletic responsibilities
  • Participate in our clubs program
  • Serve as an advisor to students
  • Supervise a dormitory floor

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Previous teaching experience in a middle school environment preferred, but not required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the subject area through previous coursework and/or experience
  • Interest in and demonstrated skill in working with adolescent boys
  • A shared commitment to an inclusive community, and respect for differences
  • Ability to make contributions to School life across multiple facets of our program
  • Willingness to embrace and engage in the active lifestyle of an independent boarding school
