Prenatal Genetic Counselor

Wilmington Maternal Fetal Medicine is seeking a Genetic Counselor to join our well established Maternal-Fetal Medicine practice in Wilmington, North Carolina. This position is 32 hours (4 days a week) with full benefits.  The primary responsibility of this position is to provide prenatal and preconception genetic counseling to a patients referred for high risk indications and fetal anomalies. The Prenatal Genetic Counselor will have autonomy within the multidisciplinary team and will support the team by providing information, guidance, and technical support related to genetics/genetic testing. 

Other responsibilities include:
•    Perform risk assessment based on patient’s medical and family history, test results and ultrasound findings
•    Offer appropriate genetic testing based on indication
•    Support prenatal screening and testing, prior authorization for testing, coordinating test orders and tracking specimens, interpreting and disclosing test results
•    Serve as an educator and resource for healthcare professionals as well as the general public
•    Communicate care plan and genetic test results to referring provider and healthcare team 
•    Assist our MFM physicians and staff in the coordination of patient care
