OSU-Cascades is seeking a Counselor for the campus in Bend, OR. This is a full-time 1.0 FTE, 12-month professional faculty position. The purpose of this position is to provide personal counseling to students experiencing psychological, social and/or other difficulties that negatively impact their student success at OSU-Cascades. OSU-Cascades provides resources to students and this resource contributes to retention and academic and personal success.
OSU-Cascades is a small friendly campus, often selected by students for small class size and intimate environment. The smaller student and faculty populations encourage a level of interdisciplinary interaction which far exceeds that normally experienced at a larger institution.
Bend, nearly the geographic center of the State, is Central Oregon’s most populous city. It is bounded on the east by the High Desert and on the west by the Cascades Mountains, both of which provide a multitude of recreational opportunities.
Typically requires Masters in Counseling, Clinical, Family Therapy, or equivalent from an accredited program. Obtain licensure in the state of Oregon within 18 months of employment, or as a Social Worker in the state of Oregon within 6 months of employment.
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy from a regionally accredited institution.
Current professional licensure as a Professional Licensed Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. For professional counselors from states other than Oregon, comparable licensure in another state or documentation supporting eligibility for Oregon licensure within six months of hire.
Two years of post-licensure professional experience working as a psychologist/therapist/social worker.
Experience organizing and facilitating workshops and groups on a variety of mental health related topics.
Demonstrated professional oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
Some evening work may be required.
