Upper School Dean of Students

Glenelg Country School in Ellicott City, MD seeks an Upper School Dean of Students. The Dean of Students oversees all aspects of student life in the Upper School, including student activities, events, support and discipline. S/he leads the advisory system, is a key advisor to the Upper School Head and collaborates closely with the Upper School Director of Studies, Upper School Counselor, and Director of Student Support. In addition to supervising the Upper School Grade Deans and helping plan grade-level activities, the Dean maintains the calendar of Upper School events, helps draft and finalize the all-school calendar, and collaborates with the Middle School Dean of Students on issues related to the 8^th-9^th grade transition. The successful candidate will possess a love of teens, a deep commitment to their health and an ability to support and guide them through challenging situations. Experience in Middle or Upper School teaching, student life or administration is advantageous. Superior organizational skills and an ability to manage details are essential, as are a high degree of emotional intelligence and a successful record of parent engagement.
