Emma Willard School is seeking an experienced, creative and dynamic individual as a full-time Director of Counseling commencing August 2021. The Director of Counseling will oversee the Counseling team, working closely with the Dean of Students, the Learning Support Coordinator, the Director of Student Wellbeing, the Director of Residential Life and the Director of Nursing as well as teachers and students. Qualified candidates must be licensed in the State of New York. This position reports to the Dean of Students.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a master’s degree and relevant experience. This person will have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, a sense of humor, and a genuine interest in working with adolescent girls as they develop their sense of self in an academically rigorous educational living environment. This person will be comfortable with current educational and communication technology and will also have a willingness to innovate, collaborate and challenge where appropriate.

Major duties and responsibilities include:
Providing direct mental health services to students, including individual, small group, and family meetings;
Consulting with teachers, parents and advisors regarding concerns about social and emotional welfare of students;
Providing referrals to outside mental health providers for students, families and faculty
Serving as a liaison between outside mental health providers and the school;
Being available by phone for after-hours support needs of the Resident Life community;
