The Assistant Director of Athletics will demonstrate a commitment to creating positive experiences for a wide range of student-athletes, diverse administrative skills that support the operation of our program, and successful experience coaching at the high school or collegiate levels. As this position includes coaching responsibilities, we seek candidates who, as Head coaches, can potentially contribute to the growth of our boys soccer, girls squash, boys lacrosse and/or girls crew programs.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
Generate revenue through Summer Programming, working with the Business Office to secure contracts and certificate of insurances.
Manage the ongoing creation and implementation of the Club System, working with Residential Life and Blue Key to streamline school wide programming.
Update the athletics awards and plaques.
Maintain athletic records and statistics.
Produce all publications for game programs, recruiting brochure, sport schedules and newsletter, in collaboration with the Communications department.
Coordinate with the Studies Office to set up facilities for standardized testing
Work with facilities to assist with pre-season field set up and ensure facilities are ready for game day.
Attend games and welcome opposing coaches/teams.
Assist coaches with PlaySight, Hudl and Kent Sports Media after-school program.
Possibly Teach two (2) sections.
Provide instruction consistent with the mission, values, and standards established by Kent School;
Establish effective communications and relationships with students, advisors and parents;
Exhibit a growth mindset about teaching practices and work toward professional goals and development;
Help to maintain school policies, regulations, and expectations;
Develop and maintain professional, collaborative, and collegial relationships with faculty and staff, as well as with community partners to the benefit of students and classes;
Participate actively in all aspects of community life through service in Kent School’s residential, advising, and co-curricular programs.
Coach 2-3 seasons of a co-curricular team or equivalent (as determined by the Director of Athletics) (2 seasons of interscholastic and one season of either timing or intramural)
Perform regular duty in our residential program
Participate in Faculty committees
Serve as Advisor to 5-7 students
Secure a Public Passenger Activity Vehicle driver’s license to drive a school vehicle for school activities.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
A Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management or a related field is preferred. Some experience and passion of high school athletics, in an independent school setting is desirable.
