Gould Academy
Teaching FellowsGould Academy, an independent boarding school of 215 students, grades 9-PG, in Bethel, Maine, seeks teaching follows for a two-year program. Teaching Fellows have the opportunity to develop their teaching, coaching, and/or experiential education practices and pursue a Master’s Degree. Gould offers a challenging curriculum that includes an impressive collection of courses in all disciplines. In year one, the Fellows Program explores the dynamic intersection of adolescent development in independent school residential settings in the mountains of Western Maine. Fellows engage in a variety of programs based on their skills and qualifications and form a learning cohort in year one to develop foundational skills in education and adolescent development. Gould is uniquely positioned to support advanced level experiential education that leverages our place-based assets, STEM and arts programs, and athletic programs. Fellows begin graduate studies in the second year of their appointment and school responsibilities will be reduced to support their full participation in their program. A tuition stipend is provided for Master's studies or the Grow with Google Certification Program. The goal of the program is to inspire and provide educational leaders of the future experience. Fellows must possess an enthusiasm for learning, appreciate adolescent development and possess a commitment to diversity and inclusivity. Essential Qualities of Employment
Essential Responsibilities Fellows’ Role:
Fellow Co-AdvisorAs a co-advisor, you will learn about the advisory role and share in these duties. The Advisor knows, respects and embraces each advisee as an individual; maintains a strong understanding of adolescent development. Fellow Athletics/Co-curricularCo-coach/supervisor responsibilities for a sport/co-curricular program. Opportunities are matched with Fellow’s skills and interests alongside program needs. Fellow Community LifeIntegration into Community Life is a critical aspect of the Fellowship. Student supervision and engagement on school nights and weekends is a requirement. School night duty usually involves one to two nights of evening campus coverage, occasional backup coverage when necessary, and weekend duty that is assigned on a rotating basis in an equitable way. Fellow CohortA Fellow is required to participate in the Gould Fellows cohort group and meet the obligations and requirements of the training. A Fellow is expected to to pursue application to a Master’s program and be accepted to a program that supports on-line learning before the end of the first year.
