Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking an Assistant Manager. Reporting to the Director for the Office of Financial Aid-Newark.
The Assistant Manager is necessary for the equitable and uniform adherence to defined university, federal and stated student financial aid policies and procedures to ensure the timely delivery of aid assistance to our students.
The Assistant Manager is responsible and not limited to:
Collaborates with the Director is responsible for making and implementing operational processes, prioritizes and manages unified workflows, resolves operational issues, and ensures that the processing and awarding of financial aid are within a university, federal, and state regulatory guidelines, and agency operations.
Oversees the day-to-day leadership and management of the Administrative Assistants (AA) which includes hiring, evaluations, reprimand, rehabilitation, and firing procedures.
Accountable for the fundamental training and coaching as it pertains to an AA being properly outfitted to handle complex problem solving and decision making to guarantee optimum customer service issues.
Tasks with keeping all staff members abreast of procedures and notification of said changes to those procedures.
Provides assistance in all areas of processing financial aid eligibility and determination; this includes compliance with federal and state regulations, including verification, awarding, adjusting, reconciling, loan certification, work-study, return of Title IV calculations, and satisfactory academic progress processes.
Requires managing a student caseload.
Supervises the Federal Work Study Program.
Works with the Senior Financial Aid Counselors, academic units, and civic community partners to implement new and innovative FWS/JLDPjob opportunities that make certain students receive transferable job skills for an ever-changing job market.
Oversees the development and coordination of financial aid literacy and outreach programs.
