The Associate Dean for Academic Assessment, Quality and Accreditation is responsible for developing, directing, and managing activities that support a system of active, college wide programmatic performance improvement principles. This includes both curriculum-specific and programmatic efforts related to the college of osteopathic medicine and its affiliated programs and in compliance with accreditation standards. This position reports to the Senior Associate Dean of the Medical Education Department. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity and inclusivity.
1.Develop, direct and manage college performance improvement efforts as part of a closed loop process. Compile, organize, and oversee the analysis of performance/program data as it relates to university outcomes assessment processes, activities, and committees. a.Work in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Preclinical Education and the Associate Dean of Clinical Education to provide leadership and consultation in curriculum development and revision processes based on feedback and evaluation measures related to curricular and national standard data trends. b.Oversee the development and implementation of a process that utilizes the AAMC Curriculum Inventory (and/or similar tools) to lead quality improvement of the curriculum.
2.Oversee the functions and staff in Office of Assessment, Quality and Accreditation. a.Provide oversight in the administration and accumulation of data obtained from student, course and faculty evaluations. b.Provide data analysis and reports to the appropriate faculty and administrative offices for the purpose of student outcomes assessment, program evaluation and accreditation. c.Engage in assessment of the curriculum and suggest areas for improvement or further scrutiny as part of a closed loop quality improvement process.
3.Participate in the faculty assessment process and provide feedback to inform the creation of a robust and ongoing faculty development program.
4.Establish and maintain effective working relationships; maintain cooperative and collegial relationships with others to ensure a workplace founded on dignity and respect; champion positive inter-professional relationships with college, university and healthcare partners; support diversity in all aspects of the educational experience and foster positive collegial relationships amongst students, staff, and faculty.
5.Remain current and knowledgeable in instructional design and methods; conduct scholarly work related to medical education and/or other areas of research in foundational, social, or behavioral sciences; maintain full working knowledge of the curriculum management software tools and varied use within medical education.
There is potential for a faculty appointment.
DO, MD or PhD in education, sciences, research and evaluation, instructional design or other equivalent discipline
Knowledge of statistics, educational psychometrics, computer databases, web-based educational processes, medical education, performance improvement, institutional research and student outcomes assessment
Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
Successful record of scholarship demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications and funded projects. (highly preferred)
Familiarity with programmatic (i.e., Commission on Osteopathic Accreditation/COCA) and institutional (Higher Learning Commission/HLC) accreditation standards
