Dana Hall School seeks candidates for the position of Upper School Dean of Students. The individual in this position will be accountable for:
Ensuring, with the Director of the Upper School, the smooth operation of the Upper School, including student orientation, attendance/permissions, discipline, student government, student activities, student leadership, clubs, and traditions
Overseeing the boarding program, including student needs and issues, as well as the orientation, training, and evaluation of dorm faculty and on-campus faculty
Serving as liaison to the Health Center and counseling staff
Keeping the Head of School and Counseling Team aware of situations regarding individual students, dorm staff, and on-campus faculty
Supporting and guiding Class Deans
Overseeing, supporting and coordinating the Student Affairs staff
Facilitating effective communication and coordination with the Head of School, the Director of the Upper School, and other members of the administrative staff
Candidates must have a Master's degree in a related field, at least 3-5 years of administrative experience and expertise in working with students, faculty/staff, and families in an educational environment. Successful candidates will have experience with creating and implementing student programming in a school setting. Work experience in a boarding school environment is strongly preferred. The Upper School Dean of Students will live on campus.
Other requirements include excellent professional and personal judgement, discretion, strong communication skills, an ability to multi-task and maintain details, in addition to the flexibility to manage multiple and, at times, competing priorities, as well as the ability to be a team player who is held accountable for the overall quality of the program. Candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to current diversity, equity, and inclusion practices and the humility to pursue ongoing growth in this area.
This is a twelve-month, full-time position reporting to the Director of the Upper School.
