Assistant Dean for Student Success

Description:

The Assistant Dean for Student Success is a senior-level administrator in the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics and will provide academic and administrative leadership in support of student success. This individual will lead the collaborative examination of student success challenges and lead interventions and initiatives that enhance students' academic success. S/he will oversee advising initiatives and provide assessment of advising effectiveness for the College. This individual will oversee and manage corporate partner relationships to facilitate contributions to the College's overall strategy. S/he will also engage with the Office of Career Services and Advancement Services to maximize student scholarships, increase internship and career employment opportunities, and create professional development opportunities that enhance students' career skills. Finally, the Assistant Dean will interact closely with the Department Chairs, the Office of Admissions and the Center for Academic Excellence to support programs and processes that enhance undergraduate recruitment, registration, retention, persistence and graduation.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

The College of Business and Economics is one of eight academic units (Colleges) at the University. Located in Greensboro, NC, North Carolina A&T State University is a public, doctoral/research, 1890 land-grant university committed to exemplary teaching and learning, scholarly and creative research, and effective engagement and public service.
The College of Business and Economics has five academic departments—Accounting and Finance; Business Education; Economics; Management; and Marketing and Supply Chain Management, and currently enrolls about 1,500 undergraduate and graduate students. The College also offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) degree.

The business and accounting programs are both accredited by AACSB International—the business programs since 1979 and the accounting program since 1986. The most recent reaffirmation of accreditation occurred in 2016. A faculty of over 75 teach in the academic departments, providing quality teaching and learning supported by relevant research and service.

Requirements:

The Assistant Dean for Student Success must have the following:
- Master's degree in area related to student personnel, education or college administration or bachelor's degree with at least eight years of higher education experience providing increasing responsibility in the area of student success and/or retention.

- Strong commitment to student success
- Ability to lead diverse professionals to collaborative ideas and outcomes
- Ph.D. in area related to student personnel, education or college administration
