Description About this role The Operations Manager for Social Impact will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management of Social Impact programs as they relate to the BlackRock Foundation and the BlackRock Charitable Fund, a donor advised fund managed by Fidelity Charitable. As part of the role, the incumbent will be tasked with the oversight of internal governance processes and management of the relationships across internal functions and businesses that support operations of the BlackRock Foundation, including, but not limited to, Finance, Legal and Tax. He/she will be responsible for ensuring that compliance-related requirements for private foundations are adequately met and that all operational aspects of the Foundation are professionally run. The individual will also lead on the coordination of financial reporting for all Social Impact spend, whether funded from the Foundation or the DAF and assist with annual budgeting and financial planning as well as coordinate the preparation of Board materials and meeting agendas.
As a nimble team that values collaboration and insight across our Social Impact efforts, there is also built in capacity in the current role for this individual to support some of Social Impact's global employee engagement programs which will require project management and coordination with colleagues and vendors.
The Operations Manager will report to Managing Director, Social Impact and be supported by the team's Operations Analyst.
Prepare annual budgets (Social Impact and Foundation) based upon existing grant commitments and input from grant and engagement teams on projected new and ongoing spend
Track spend actuals by quarter and estimate projected year-end spend as requested
Partner with Finance and Investment teams to ensure cash needs are addressed
Coordinate completion and review of investment subscription applications, liaising internally with OCIO team, Legal and external counsel as needed
Manage Foundation payments processes in compliance with internal policies and ensure all spend is accurately tracked in Social Impact records
Coordinate financial reporting and accounting processes for the BlackRock Foundation with Finance
Governance and Compliance
Project manage preparation of materials for quarterly Investment Committee and Board meetings (2-3 a year), and any quarterly Sub-Committee meetings, including coordination of any required review by other internal functions
Serve as a primary contact for monthly engagements with the Foundation's tax advisor (Deloitte), ensuring tax liabilities are anticipated and met
Coordinate processes for the annual audit and tax filings for the BlackRock Foundation, working closely with Tax, Finance and Deloitte
Ensure that other annual requirements are fulfilled (e.g. collect information on employee contributed time, insurance renewal, review of policies)
Provide support on other projects as needed
Manage Social impact's vendor contracting processes for engagement programs
Project manage engagement programs, including Social Impact Challenge, board programs, skills-based volunteering and other, as needed
5+ years of industry work experience, preferably in a large private sector organization or a private foundation
Ability to manage own workload, multi-task, balance multiple and conflicting priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and changing environment
Strong written communication and presentation skills, with aptitude to convey complex concepts simply and clearly.
Prior experience managing cross-business and cross-functional projects preferred. Mature demeanor, comfortable working with senior leaders
