Upper School | History Teacher | Full Time | 2021-2022

1. Teaching four sections of World History, United States History, and/or upper division electives to a diverse student body with varying experiences;
2. Providing academic support for students with different learning styles and strengths outside of class time (answering homework questions, providing extra writing help, etc.) as needed;
3. Actively collaborating and participating in the work of the History Department on innovative, inclusive, and equitable curriculum development, pedagogy, and assessment;
4. Attending grade-level team and faculty meetings as scheduled;
5. Acting as an advisor for 8 to 10 high school students;
6. Actively participate in the life of the school community, assuming at least one additional out of the classroom duty, such as advising a student club, joining a standing committee, or coaching.

Requirements and Qualifications
A successful candidate for this position will meet the following requirements and qualifications:
 

1. Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand different perspectives; interact respectfully with cultures other than their own; and cultivate meaningful relationships with people that have different cultural frameworks.
2. Prior experience working with a diverse student population and demonstrated equity and inclusion mindset.
3. A commitment to and proven experience incorporating diverse perspectives, voices, and viewpoints into the curriculum.
4. A bachelor’s degree in History or a closely related field;
5. Experience teaching History, preferably to high school students, and a passion for interacting with high school students in and outside of the classroom;
6. Experience teaching Psychology and/or other social science electives is an asset;
7. Excellent collaboration skills and a pitch-in, can-do attitude;
8. Proficiency in technology and digital teaching tools; and
9. Candidates must satisfactorily complete two nationwide criminal background checks.
