HIGH SCHOOL SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER
Island School
Island School (ischool.org) seeks a 9th and 10th grade Social Studies Teacher with a commitment to private education in a college preparatory environment. A full-time position includes teaching five classes (usually 2 or 3 courses), which will most likely include a combination of American Government, History of Hawaii, and Modern World History. The position begins in late July for the 2021-2022 academic year.

The successful candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, and a desire to be part of an independent school community. Candidates should have experience differentiating instruction to work effectively with a range of learners, demonstrate a passion for teaching social studies, and demonstrate effective classroom management strategies. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in teaching social studies. Additional responsibilities may include full participation in the life of the school, being an advisor, leading a club or other initiative, and/or coaching. 2 + years of relevant teaching experience in a non-profit, independent school preferred.
