Essential Duties and Responsibilities Support student learning through an innovative and interdisciplinary curriculum. To actively support our school’s Equity and Inclusion Initiatives through curriculum and implementation. Be aware of and coordinate teaching objectives, materials, methods, and means of assessment used within the department. Communicate regularly with student advisors and parents regarding student progress as needed. Provide ideas for agenda items for possible inclusion in faculty and department meetings. Articulate the department's strategies in achieving the mission and goals of the school and work with colleagues to set departmental objectives, assessments, and policies accordingly. Support and share with the community innovative and meaningful work done by the department Assist in the search for and evaluation of candidates to fill vacancies within the department. Contribute to the preparation of an annual departmental budget for the purchase of additional texts, supplies, and equipment, and to administer the budget in cooperation with the department and the CFO. Participate in ongoing professional development including the Montessori adolescent orientation Be open to interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues and outside institutions. To be present and accessible to students and colleagues during school hours. To fully participate in teaching I-terms, chaperoning school trips and activities, and supporting other community-based activities. Serve as an advisor for a group of students. Teach 4 sections of Spanish. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School. Additional Job Requirements Support the philosophy and mission of the School and its leadership. Maintain appropriate attendance and punctuality and be available to students when present at school. ? Maintain and manage sensitive and confidential school, student, parent, and employee information. Qualifications or Comparable Experience Undergraduate degree required, Master’s degree preferred with a minimum of five years teaching in the subject area. Entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to interdisciplinary work. IB, Montessori teaching experience preferred. Willingness to collaborate effectively with colleagues. Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing the responsibilities the employee is required to talk and hear and have close, distant, and peripheral vision. The role requires standing, sitting, reaching, and light lifting. Typical work hours are limited to Monday through Friday, but additional days/hours are required at times depending on the demands of the department and School events.
