Position Available: Upper School Science Teacher Beginning: August 25, 2021
St. Peter’s School is an independent, coeducational, non-sectarian Preschool through Eighth Grade school, educating approximately 175 students in the center of Philadelphia for over 180 years. We are seeking a full-time experienced Middle School Science teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. The ideal candidate will have experience planning an integrated science curriculum, is committed to challenging students of all levels academically, and understands the social and emotional growth and development of Middle School aged children.
As a Lead Teacher in the Upper School (grades 5-8), this position is responsible for the science curriculum and program within each grade level. Additionally, in conjunction with the Education Program Director and the Lower School Science teacher, reviewing the scope and sequence of the science program Preschool through 8th Grade. This person will work with other faculty to create interdisciplinary units, sharing resources and developing unique and distinctive opportunities for the St. Peter’s students to find a love of science and gain the necessary skills to pursue science in secondary school and beyond. While the primary responsibilities for this role are teaching science to grades 5-8, the expansion of STEM and innovative activities throughout the school are important. Working with faculty to bring STEM content into the classroom, developing partnerships across the city, and showcasing the creative ability of all our students will also be pursued.

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in education of science or related field preferred. 3-5 years experience teaching science.
