Job Function:

Under the supervision of the Dean of Admissions, the Senior Admissions Officer(s) will assume the following responsibilities:

  • Participate in the recruitment process, both virtually and in-person. May include domestic and/or international travel to meet with prospective students, their families and college counselors, representing Barnard at college fairs, speaking on panels, and representing Barnard at professional meetings and conferences.

  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of students to the first-year and transfer class. May include conducting interviews for first-year candidates for admission.

  • Serve as a member of the communications/marketing team. Responsible for coordinating all social media marketing, office website management and maintenance, and creating editorial content for website/blogs/social media. Includes developing strategy, content, timeline and implementation.

  • Work within Slate communication functions, such as Deliver, to build and manage email marketing campaigns and notifications.

  • Coordinate, manage, and supervise Social Media Barnard Student Admissions Representatives (Social Media BSAR) program.

  • Assist with print publication marketing, including development and editing.

  • Liaise with the visitor experience team to ensure social media and the website marketing synergy.

  • Other duties may include: transfer admission process; athletic recruiting; liaison to music lessons exchange programs.

    Required Qualification Summary:

  • Bachelor's degree from a liberal arts institution
  • Two or more years of experience in college admissions or related position.
  • Effective and persuasive communication and interpersonal skills.
  • some experience with supervision
  • Excellent conceptual and analytical skills.
  • High personal energy level and stamina.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for up to two weeks at a time.
  • Valid driver's license.
