Coordinator of Gifted Services

JOB GOAL: 
 
To provide gifted students with advanced learning and enrichment experiences in specifically designated areas of curriculum in order to help utilize their special intellectual gifts as fully as possible.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develops and implements comprehensive gifted services, elementary through high school according to district gifted services guidelines.
2. Assists school personnel in the identification of gifted students, reporting to the state annually.
3. Assists in the placement of gifted students in appropriate educational services and settings.
4. Assists teachers in the facilitation of gifted services and culture of enrichment.
5. Develops, obtains and distributes appropriate gifted services/enrichment materials while assisting district personnel in ensuring that documents regarding gifted identification procedures and written criteria for gifted services that are required in Ohio Department of Education Gifted Operating Standards are accurate and accessible to parents and other stakeholders.
6. Assists teachers in the ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of gifted services/enrichment opportunities.
7. Assists school personnel in the development, appropriate dissemination, evaluation and revision of written education plans for students participating in gifted services.
8. Provides staff development to teachers, administrators, support personnel and community members regarding the educational needs and characteristics of gifted children.
9. Monitors performance and provides support to Gifted Intervention Specialists.
10. Serves as chairperson of district Gifted Services Advisory Committee.
11. Communicates regularly to the Chief Academic Officer, Director of Elementary Education, building principals, counselors and GIS’s on gifted services and enrichment activities and opportunities.
12. Coordinates acceleration options such as Early Entrance to Kindergarten/1^stgrade, subject acceleration, whole grade acceleration, credit flex and college credit plus.
13. Assists school personnel in ensuring district compliance with accountability requirements.
14. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
