Undergraduate Program Coordinator

This position will be responsible for developing and leading a quality, dynamic and successful undergraduate recruiting, advising and retention program for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). Serving as the department’s lead recruiter for undergraduate programs, this position will develop and oversee strategic programs and events to recruit and retain a diverse and inclusive student body. The incumbent will also serve as the department’s primary academic advisor for all first-year and transfer students. A strong focus is on advising students in the entry year of their ECE undergraduate program, getting them acquainted and connected to the program and the department, and creating academic plans and programming that will result in graduation. This position is of critical importance due to high attrition rates in engineering undergraduate programs. Acting in a leadership role on behalf of the department for the summer orientation program is an essential duty for the person in this position. The successful Undergraduate Program Coordinator will possess a high degree of interpersonal skills, as well as the drive to build quality relationships and touch points to ensure program accomplishments.

Required Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Counseling, Psychology, Marketing, Public Administration, Liberal Arts, or related;
• Two years of experience advising, counseling, recruiting, and/or providing academic support and/or programming for students at the high school or collegiate level;
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with multiple projects and initiatives converging at one time;
• Demonstrated understanding of collegiate student development and awareness of the transition issues of students entering and progressing through higher education;
• Demonstrated ability in designing, implementing, collaborating and evaluating student success programs;
• Demonstrated ability developing intervention strategies for supporting the success of students; and
• Demonstrated experience working, interacting, and collaborating with all individuals in a positive manner.

Preferred Job Qualifications

• Master’s degree;
• Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with constituents;
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including virtual presentation skills;
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite;
• Experience with Oracle and Banner software systems; and
• Ability to work a flexible schedule

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has 26 faculty members, 440 undergraduates, and 190 graduate students.
