ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
This is a 12-month appointment. The successful candidate will be an active member of the campus community, which includes being widely available for student help, advising students, and serving on institutional committees.
Provides strategic leadership to advance the teaching, research, and service/outreach missions of the department and school.
Works closely with the Psychology faculty, students and staff, the Dean's Office, and other campus leaders to:
1. Ensure excellence in academic programs and curriculum development.
2. Encourage and promote professional licensure.
3. Promote faculty and student involvement in social justice and civic engagement issues.
4. Expand the school's collaborations with academic, research, community, government, and industry partners.
5. Provide fiscal management and oversight of departmental operations.
Serve as a member of the Academic Leadership Team and represent the department to students, faculty, administrators, the profession, and the general public.
Champion for student success and satisfaction.
Craft a vision on how to develop and grow both the counseling and forensic psychology programs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Experience Required:
Holds a license or is eligible for licensure in California.
Has expertise in clinical or community-based psychology.
Ability to instruct graduate-level courses in Counseling Psychology, practicum and culminating seminar.
Has deep knowledge in program development & curriculum design.
Skills to lead in-depth assessments of student learning and curriculum review.
Previous management experience with overseeing the performance of graduate-level faculty.
Proven success with working with external agencies in developing opportunities for student internships.
Ability to work with business partners and senior management.
Proficient in using social media to increase program exposure both regionally and internationally.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Must be proficient in licensing requirements for the BBS and online learning.
Highly desirable candidates will possess the items above, as well as the following:
A terminal doctoral degree.
At least seven years of experience in a supervisory position.
At least seven years of clinical experience.
Have a minimum of seven years academic experience in the field of clinical or community-based psychology.
Expertise areas are open, but should be clinically relevant, with preference given to candidates focusing on community psychology, psychotherapy processes, and counseling diverse populations.
Familiarity with clinically relevant areas of counseling research and scholarship.
This program values multiculturalism and social justice integration. Candidates should have a desire to participate in and support social justice initiatives on campus and within the community.
The CPSY Community
The CPSY Program is a well-respected training program for future clinicians and professionals aspiring to work with forensic populations. Students come from diverse populations, and the responsibility to advise, direct, educate and lead is a large component of this position.
