Pingree is currently seeking applicants for a Technology Educator beginning in the 2021-2022 school year. This is a 11-month (Aug - June), full-time position within the Technology Department that reports to the Director of Information Systems. We are looking for a self starter, entrepreneurial, innovative, and creative candidates who have a passion for technology and a love for teaching and learning. The Technology Educator plays an integral role in the Technology Department and within the school by promoting the appropriate use of technology in the classroom supporting teachers in lesson planning and leading professional development opportunities for the faculty and staff.
Primary responsibilities include the following:
Teach two sections of computer programming and/or a technology related subject. Past offerings have included Programming in Java and Python, Minecraft, Raspberry Pi, Drones, and Robotics.
Design, deliver, and oversee professional development and growth experiences for faculty and staff in areas of technology integration and curriculum development.
Work closely with Department Heads and academic leadership to identify needs and priorities to continue to build sustainable and equitable technology practices.
Support and train students in areas of digital citizenship, information systems, and other various technologies through orientations, class meetings, and workshops.
Oversee the school’s Makerspace and promote project based learning through the use of the space and its tools, which include a laser cutter, multiple 3D printers, a vinyl cutter, and a plotter.
Participate in regular department meetings with the Director of Information Systems and the IT Support Manager to assess department needs and engage in strategy and goal setting.
Support the students, faculty, and staff with technology needs that includes classroom technology setup and troubleshooting various technology issues.
Assist back-end technology needs such as supporting school events, hosting webinars and remote meetings, and building LMS courses.
Serve as an advisor and participate in two seasons of a co-curricular offering (preferably including robotics).
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and anti-racism work.
Classroom teaching experience at the secondary school level.
Extensive knowledge of national educational trends in instructional technology and learning in face-to-face, virtual, and blended learning environments.
Proven experience in curriculum development, lesson planning, educational technology, and creating content for multiple audiences.
In-depth knowledge of Google for Education, LMS (Canvas Preferred), and Student Information Systems (Veracross preferred).
Accomplished in problem identification and problem-solving techniques relating to the use of supported end-user hardware, software, and peripherals.
Strong analytical, organizational, process, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
Enjoys working in a fast paced environment on a variety of tasks at the same time.
Has strong communication skills and is comfortable presenting to large groups of people including students, parents, and faculty.
Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and install overhead items, and to perform work for extended periods from a crawling or crouching position.
