English Teacher

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in English or related field; Master’s degree in English or education preferred
• Three to five years teaching experience at the middle school and/or upper school level, preferably in an independent school setting

Skills/Abilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that are structured, multi-sensory and targeted to individual learning styles in order to facilitate active learning and assist students in achieving their potential.
• Ensure that curriculum and lesson plans are in accordance with established school procedures and pedagogy.
• Collaborate with department teams to achieve optimum outcome for each student.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials, and equipment.
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the disciplinary systems of the School.
• Provide appropriate feedback and encouragement to students on their work.
• Monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
• Participate in department, grade-level, school, and parent meetings.
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Prepare classroom for class activities.
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
