TAS, a Toronto-based mixed-use real estate developer and investment manager, is deeply committed to the communities it operates within and holds a long-term investment horizon. Founded in 1983 as a custom home builder, TAS expanded into mixed-use developments in the early 2000’s and has since delivered five major projects. Its active pipeline now totals over 5.6 million square feet across 10 unique sites in the Greater Toronto Area. TAS builds vibrant projects that blend residential, commercial, cultural and community spaces to serve evolving needs for today and tomorrow. This period of evolution for the organization has underscored the need for a seasoned Chief Operating Officer, a new role which will support and elevate the company in its next phase of growth. The current portfolio totals more than five and a half million square feet, in various stages of development and value-add redevelopment, delivering a diverse portfolio of commercial and retail spaces, alongside a mix of long-term rental and for-sale condominium units.

THE ROLE

Key Priorities

Reporting to the CEO and overseeing the development, construction, project management, sales and marketing teams, the Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for:

Driving operational excellence

• Coordinating and optimizing the project cycle-time and its impact on the delivery of returns.
• Streamlining operations, without compromising what differentiates TAS. Identifying the stages where value can be added, and maximizing the value of each square foot by improving design or reducing cost.
• Delivering projects on time and on budget in a way that is scalable as the business continues to grow.
• Championing innovation in development and project delivery.

Building and developing the team

• Building a team unrivalled in differentiated mixed-use development; harnessing TAS's commitment to building its unique vision and enhancing communities.
• Attracting top talent from within the industry and developing the existing team with respect to best-in-class development operations.
• Being an inspiring and accessible leader to all TAS employees.
• Encouraging and truly embracing diversity in all of its forms.

Establishing outstanding working partnerships

• Initiating partnerships via TAS’s reputation and personal connections, as well as their own, and then strengthening these relationships through respect, true-partnership and excellent execution.
• Further developing TAS’s reputation for being a trusted partner in the industry.
• Internally, building trust and a track record of collaboration as a key long-term partner with her/his colleagues on the core leadership team.
