POSITION DETAILS

The Director of Student Wellness (Student Counseling Director) will provide visionary, strategic and operational leadership to an umbrella of student wellness areas including the Counseling Center, Health Center Wellness Center, and Women's Center. This role will be a key thought partner in planning, developing, maintaining, and evaluating the holistic mental health and wellbeing of our students. The Director is responsible for departmental compliance with applicable state and federal laws and mandates and creates relevant departmental policies and procedures. Relative to operations, the Director is responsible for the development and oversight of the departmental budget, recruitment and staffing, and creation of departmental reports, analysis and other initiatives.

Reporting to the Dean of Student Affairs, this position will interface with senior staff and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to, students, faculty, staff, community-based agencies, CUNY constituents, etc. Supervision will include full-time and part-time counselors and support staff.

• In addition to counseling services, this position will oversee other aspects of student wellness including: Student Wellness Center, Health Center, and the Women's Center.
• Ensure that student wellness staff are trained and prepared to support the complex mental health concerns students face .
• Collaborate with community resources to nurture and enhance referrals for students.
• Develop comprehensive plan to engage and provide student wellness resources to students through various platforms i.e. group, face-to-face, telehealth, etc..
• Serve as integral part of campus Assessment and Caret Team (ACT).

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required.

PhD or PsyD In counseling or clinical psych or related mental health fields strongly preferred.

Previous leadership and supervision experience preferred.

• Interfaces with academic departments, other College offices, and student groups to assess program needs and develop appropriate responses
• Participates in inter-divisional programs to increase student success and retention
• Performs related duties as assigned.
