Our regional public school students need a professional instructor with expertise, passion and leadership. MWCC is seeking highly motivated and talented instructors to join our Summer Programs for Children team, which delivers STEAM based, hands-on, experiential instruction to children ages 6-13. Over the past years, MWCC Academic Adventures has made significant progress in aligning and integrating STEAM education in our summer offerings to increase chances for future academic success for elementary, middle and high school students from the region. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about helping children beat "Summer Brain Drain" by delivering a much-needed mid-summer academic booster shot in STEAM based, fun, and instruction. Designs and implements hands-on, experiential, lab-oriented science, math, and engineering lessons for 1st through 3rd, and/or, 4th through 8th grade, or 9th through 12th grade students. Collaborates with program counselors to help them plan, integrate, and enhance grade-level standards during afternoon activities. Provides standards-based, structured project based learning that interconnects STEAM subjects. Responsibilities Academic Adventures are offered over a weeklong schedule, each program a separate and distinct 4-5 day program offering. MWCC Summer Programs will be offered Monday through Friday, between June 28 and August 6, 2021, and Instructor training and course preparations begin the week of June 22, 2021. Instructors are often hired for the weeks of a specific program, or contracted for 1-4 full weeks, depending on program needs and/or schedule availability. Typical Academic Adventures Day, focusing on outdoor activities: Implements hands-on, experiential, lab-oriented science, math, and engineering lessons for 1st through 3rd, and/or, 4th through 7th grade, and 9th-12th grade students, based on the week's program theme. 12:30 to 1pm-Lunch, included with programs. Counseling staff engage students in activities based on the day's curriculum (when possible), including outdoor large motor games (occasional movies when weather conditions are unfair).
