Professional (+) (Fixed Term) Job Family: Administrative Professional - OT Eligible Position Details: Summary of Duties: The Postdoctoral Psychology Resident will join a team of professionals who are strongly committed to social justice, equity and inclusion. At CAPS, we strive to create a workplace where we can recognize and value our differences. The Postdoctoral Resident will join us in providing brief and culturally-sensitive individual counseling, group therapy, risk assessment, crisis intervention, AOD (alcohol and other drug) interventions, consultation, and outreach for a diverse group of WSU students presenting with a range of diagnoses and concerns, including psychological, social and other difficulties that interfere with student functioning and academic performance. It is the expectation of CAPS that the Postdoctoral Psychology Resident will demonstrate a nuanced understanding and awareness of cultural differences and will be affirming of others across a broad spectrum of identities including racial, ethnic, religious, sexual orientation, gender, economic status, immigration status and ability. The postdoc position includes options to specialize in the administration of ADHD/LD assessments, serve as a liaison to a WSU office/program, join the Diversity Committee at CAPS and Cougar Health Services, or participate in a behavioral health rotation. The Postdoctoral Psychology Resident may also have the opportunity to provide clinical supervision to Psychology doctoral students in practicum training at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Under faculty supervision, the Postdoctoral Psychology Resident will function as a professional member of CAPS. As such, they must demonstrate knowledge of theory, research, and practical application of psychological principles; engage in a full range of counseling related activities at a level commensurate with beginning professionals; show flexibility, sensitivity, perceptiveness, and multicultural awareness in interpersonal interactions; and demonstrate professionalism through ethical practice, effective communication and documentation, and an openness to learning.
