This is a senior underwriting position focusing on loans secured by marketable securities. Ideally you have experience in a bank or financial services company as a margin lender or lending to HNW individuals, trusts and other entities secured by marketable securities. The incumbent is responsible for the analysis, underwriting, and structuring of credit requests as a member of the Private Banking Secured Lending team. The role requires understanding the elements needed for a credit transaction and to ensure compliance with Risk approval and policies, internal legal guidelines, and all government regulations and guidelines. A thorough understanding of credit and risks related to loans secured by marketable assets is essential, along with the ability to analyse operating entities and complex borrower structures. Transactions supported by the Lending Division can range from $500,000 to over $100 million. This position focuses on the more complex, and high profile requests. The incumbent interfaces with Private Bankers and Wealth Managers throughout the U.S., Loan Administration, Treasury Shared Service areas, other areas such as Portfolio Management and Letters of Credit. Position may involve participation in projects, and training of both staff and non-staff members. The position requires working closely with the Private Bankers, Risk and internal legal counsel. S/He may also interface directly with external clients, and/or client intermediaries (advisors, accountants, legal counsel, etc.) throughout the structuring, underwriting, and closing process. Qualifications A BA/BS degree in accounting or finance, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in the financial industry is required. An MBA and/or formal credit training is preferred. Experience in private banking lending and/or underwriting, or lending small to middle market business markets is also required. In addition, necessary skills include: strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to assess, articulate, and translate credit requests as they related to the documentation and administration of a loan portfolio.
