Middle School English Teacher

Sewickley Academy is seeking to hire a teacher with a strong professional and educational background in critical reading, writing, and communications instruction. Candidates experienced in teaching Middle School students and interested in partnering with colleagues, students, and their families are encouraged to apply.  Position begins August 23, 2021.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate, eager to participate in school life, will be committed to building an inclusive culture, one dedicated to our core principles of character, educational vigor, diversity, and community. Classroom instruction is guided by the Readers Workshop Model. Additionally, the candidate will be one who leverages technology to inspire students and enhance learning.

The teaching load will include four to five, year-long sections including courses of Middle School English and a collaborative experiential learning course, titled, X-Block. In addition to becoming a member of our Humanities department, the successful candidate will serve as an advisor to a group of 8-10 advisees and take on additional responsibilities advising a club, providing one-to-one support for students during skill-building classes, and serving on a division-level or school-wide committee.

QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, English, or a related field is required, and Master’s Degree preferred.
