Open Window School seeks an intermediate level math teacher for the 2021-22 school year and beyond. We are future focused with this position as we continue to develop and refine our renowned middle school math program. The mission of the OWS mathematics department is to develop problem solvers who see the beauty of mathematics and recognize its power to describe the world around them. This is accomplished through helping students develop four key attributes: curiosity, courage, collaboration, and creativity.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Teaching a combination of courses (including an accelerated 5th grade math curriculum, pre-algebra, algebra 1 & 2, geometry 1 &2).
Updating, refining, and expanding the math curriculum within the structure of the courses taught.
Assessing students using multiple measures and communicating with families about student progress.
Serving as an advisor to Middle School Students.
Participating in co-curricular school activities and trips.
Collaborating with colleagues both in the math department and across departments and grade levels.
Maintaining curriculum maps and course documentation.
Successful Candidates will have experience with:
Strong differentiation skills

Use of technology to enhance and deepen learning
Inspiring students with a creative and innovative curriculum
Understanding of and appreciation for the developmental needs of adolescents
Creativity, differentiation, and acceleration with a defined yet flexible curriculum
Combining traditional math instruction with interdisciplinary STEM activities
Strong mathematical content knowledge
Experience developing and practicing cultural competence in teaching, research, and other work.
Authentic love for and curiosity about math
Experience with and appreciation for middle school students
The following are not required, but would enhance a candidate’s application:
Experience with students identified as gifted
Teaching certificate or relevant coursework
Training in Responsive Classroom
Compensation & Benefits:
This is an exempt, faculty position, not eligible for overtime. Work schedule is generally 7:30 AM – 3:50 PM, Tuesdays until 5:00 PM for faculty meetings. Teachers may be requested to attend other events, such as overnight field trips, Saturday Admissions visits, and/or leading or officiating auxiliary program practices, games, or competitions.
This position is eligible for Medical & Dental, Life, LTD, HRA/FSA & retirement benefits.
Pay is commensurate with education and experience.
