Rich content, creative pedagogy and authentic relationships are essential components of a GDS classroom. Providing those elements, working collaboratively with colleagues, and placing the students’ interests and experiences at the heart of the classroom are essential components of the job. As a diverse, inclusive school devoted to preparing our students to live and work in an increasingly globalized and multicultural society, GDS is particularly interested in professionals with demonstrated interest and experience in working in such a school setting. Summary GDS is looking for an experienced programmer, developer, tinkerer, producer and computer scientist to build computational thinking capacities in its high school students by empowering them to build, make and create with contemporary toolsets and knowledge. The ideal candidate will savor, understand, preach and exemplify the myriad opportunities for the application of computer science across disciplines, will create these opportunities within their own classroom and will build relationships with other faculty members to extend the reach and impact of computer science throughout the school. Candidates should have working knowledge of contemporary programming languages (Python, Java, Processing, C+), application development (iOS or Android), and web development (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript). This position will entail teaching up to 4 sections of computer science classes each semester, and would be best served by someone who thrives on collaborating with diverse, bright, thoughtful colleagues in a joyous and energetic progressive high school environment.

Qualifications: 3 years as a working professional in the field of computer science or a B.S. in Computer Science or related field is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess an M.S., at least 5 years of teaching or equivalent experience, and be ready to innovate and create in concert with a supportive and energetic team.
