Job Summary: This position will be responsible for providing academic advising for the College of Science undergraduate students. Essential Duties: Participate in the academic advising for the College of Science. Daily advise Science major undergraduates for course selection in registering for upcoming semesters. Prepare degree plans to assist students in progressing through their degree requirements. Work with the faculty of the department to ensure students are have proper prerequisites for courses. Meet weekly with the Lead Advisor and advising team to discuss policy/procedure/problems. Keep student files up-to-date as required. Staying abreast of educational requirements/policy/procedures pertaining to the advising on the UT Arlington Campus. Attending workshops and training sessions as needed. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Four (4) years of experience working with college students or adolescents in an academic counseling capacity or the equivalent experience. Preferred Qualifications: Personal computers and related equipment experience. Accuracy in evaluating and articulating information on students to faculty and administrators and in interpreting institutional rules and regulations and other information. Tact will be required along with, diplomacy and judgment in dealing with students, faculty and administrators. Excellent customer service skills are desired. One to four (1-4) years of experience working with college students or adolescents in an academic counseling capacity or the equivalent experience.
