| Job Description As a Cloud Architect, you hold a critical role in our team and are responsible for technical leadership and development of cloud-centric application and platform architectures and standards for use across Rockwell Automation products. This candidate would be part of a cross-organization architecture team responsible for driving the software architectural vision and strategy for the company. The cloud architect will provide architectural guidance and enablement across Rockwell Automations software product portfolio. The candidate will help drive Rockwell Automation's use of cloud technologies to expand the usability and functionality of existing products and innovate new products and solutions. Experience with Azure is preferred, but experience with other platforms such as AWS or Google are also applicable. This position will allow you to collaborate with multiple global cross-functional teams and cloud-based partners. Responsibilities - Serve as the cross-organization architect lead for cloud architecture driving a company-wide vision and strategy for cloud architecture, technologies, patterns, and concepts (e.g. containerization, multi-tenancy, high availability, event driven architecture) for Rockwell Automation's current and future software product and platform portfolio.
- Develop and lead a cross-product Cloud Architecture working group to provide/drive best practices, key architectural decisions, issue resolution, and governance
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert on Azure services and best practices for implementing features
- Provide strategies to leverage Azure/Cloud capabilities to existing code/product when possible
- Serve as a key Cloud-centric technical advocate and advisor on relevant M&A activities (including technical evaluations) and partner engagements
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with partner companies to drive technology advancements.
- Provide technical leadership and collaborate on key architectural decisions and design considerations with regards to software development and architectural/solution designs
- Develop effective strategies and development roadmaps to transition existing product components toward the cloud, identifying and evaluating key enabling technologies and/or design patterns.
- Demonstrate company-wide vision, leadership and ownership for the cloud architecture within Rockwell Automation. Establish and maintain effective relationships with business unit personnel in order to understand customer, product, and process problems and to facilitate the adoption of strategic cloud technologies and architecture patterns.
- Provide technical consulting on an as-needed basis to business units and product teams. Assist with critical high profile problem resolution. Significantly contribute to the development and implementation of the product strategic direction in terms of cloud technologies.
- Maintain technical expertise in field. Keep current through contacts with educational institutions, professional societies, and technical publications. Maintain awareness of applicable new technologies, processes, and competitive trends.
- Promote and coordinate technical activities with standards organizations, consortia, government agencies, leading universities, and other Rockwell organizations on a select basis.
- Conduct tasks in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality, and environmental regulations (state/federal laws, ISO 9001, ISO 14000, etc.) as well as Rockwell Automation policies and procedures.
- Thinks outside the box and is willing to research and explore new avenues to overcome obstacles by utilizing the latest technologies and standards.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform or other.
- Experience designing large scale production enterprise software products and cloud applications.
- Three to five years of actual product development experience with cloud technology.
- Eight to ten years of enterprise scale software product development experience.
- Intimately familiar with cloud computing concepts, practices, and procedures, including networking, security, capacity planning, and software architecture at scale, private vs. public cloud models, and distributed software debugging techniques.
- Working knowledge with container technologies, microservices, service mesh, distributed systems, cloud security, DevOps, IIoT, analytics, and machine learning.
- Requires strong interpersonal, leadership, organizational and written/verbal communication skills. Should possess the ability and patience to explain complex security concepts to non-technical audiences
- Requires an ability to sell ideas and present strategies at all organizational levels including the senior executive level.
- Proven history of driving change in an organization.
- Requires an ability to present strategies and provide effective training to industry councils and senior management, both internally and externally.
- Development experience in industrial automation software.
- Experience with legal and governance issues surrounding cloud computing.
- Experience in architecture, design, and/or development of multi-vendor and multi-tenant cloud applications.
