DESCRIPTION

The Emergency Manager will be responsible for all phases of emergency management for the hospitals and clinics within UC San Diego Health. Job functions are to include, but not limited to: providing training to faculty and staff on emergency response policies procedures, exercise planning and execution, hospital incident command center training, incident response and management, and inventory management. This position is responsible for policy creation/revision, education material development, website and software program management and all tasks required to achieve regulatory compliance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in emergency management, business continuity, healthcare administration or related area; and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.

• Three (3+) or more years of relevant experience in a hospital setting.

• Expertise in TJC and CMS regulations for Emergency Management.

• Experience and proven success in thorough knowledge/understanding of specific Emergency Management principles, including related laws and regulations; and general knowledge/ understanding of all aspects of Emergency Management. *ICS 100, 120a, 130, 200 and 700

• Prior experience in emergency management, emergency response or a related field, and a working knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS), Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS).

• Demonstrated skills in managing projects collaboratively through diverse workgroups, in the context of a large and complex organization.

• Demonstrable experience conducting trainings and exercises.

• Adeptness in establishing priorities to complete work in a timely manner, despite changes in workload or assignment, pressure of deadlines, or competing priorities.

• Writing and editing proficiency to prepare grammatically correct business correspondence, agendas, and reports with speed and accuracy and knowledge of standard business letter and table formatting to prepare such materials.

• Demonstrated knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Ability to work with different software products with minimal training and supervision.

• Skilled in analyzing data in order to be able to create spreadsheets, graphs, and charts that relay correct information for management reports.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• ICS 300 & 400 certification.
• HSEEP certification.
• Hazmat/Decontamination training experience.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
• Must be able to serve on-call rotation.
• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as relocation of supplies and equipment. Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
