 Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System with a Fredericksburg Area Campus in Spotsylvania, a Locust Grove Campus, and several off-campus centers. Located in north central Virginia we are close to the nations capital and to Richmond, as well as the Blue Ridge mountains, the Chesapeake bay and the Atlantic ocean. Germanna is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Financial Aid Advisor on our Locust Grove campus and/or to work remotely. The successful candidate will counsel and advise students and families with financial aid options and will process federal, state and institutional financial aid applications in accordance with federal, state and college regulations. Major Duties and Responsibilities: •Provides customer service by answering inquiries from students, families and staff regarding all aspects of the federal, state and institutional financial aid programs •Run and review system queries •Complete financial aid verification and verification follow-up •Primary person for monitoring and responding cases in our Student Support Center •Complete Consortium Agreements •Presenting Q&A financial aid information sessions to either in-person and/or virtual classrooms •Cover other campus/centers either in-person or virtually Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values of Germanna Community College. | •Associate degree or equivalent experience •Strong customer service and interpersonal skills •Strong oral and written communication skills •Ability to explain complicated, detailed information to students and families in an easy to understand method. •Ability to understand complex government regulations and provide information to potential students, co-workers and college administrators •Experience working independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team •Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 |
