Head Teacher

Reports to:                         School Director, Elementary or Secondary

Description:       The Head Teacher is responsible for the daily instruction and management of the classroom.

Responsibilities:

• Create, plan and deliver units of instruction including daily plans, written or generative
• Create, as appropriate, instructional materials for the classroom
• Guide and support the learning of the classroom group and each individual student
• Consult with school resources – school counselor, learning resource specialist- to support learning and growth of each student
• Be a collaborative partner with colleagues
• Regularly assess the progress of each student to plan and support student growth and development
• Write clear and concise progress reports to communicate students’ progress and learning needs to parents and students
• Meet administrative deadlines in a timely manner
• Keep accurate records: attendance, accident, expenses
• Attend all faculty meetings
• Purchase, with approval of School Director, instructional materials
• Maintain a clean and orderly classroom/laboratory
• Support social and emotional development of students through caring interactions and instruction.
• Maintain professional communication with parents regarding their student(s) academic progress.
