Garrison Forest School has an opening for a full-time History Department Chair Chair/Upper School History Teacher to begin August 2021. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic educator who brings an energetic and innovative approach to the teaching of history. The ideal candidate would be able to teach a variety of history courses including an interdisciplinary project-based seminar class that meets outside of the academic day and to supervise the development and delivery of the department curriculum across all divisions of the school. Along with classroom teaching, contributing to the co-curricular life of the school is an integral part of the teacher's role in our community, as is a collaborative approach to planning and teaching. Ideal candidates will be interested in preparing our students to live and work in a global and multicultural society. A desire to contribute to the leadership and scholarship of young women are important qualities for this position, as well as an ability to build positive, constructive relationships with students. In particular, the Chair will play a lead role in refining and implementing a new global scholars program and in collaborating with colleagues on civic education initiatives.
