Career & Professional Development fosters student success through the acquisition of knowledge, practice of skills, reflection on experience and demonstration of career readiness. The team fosters student success by establishing productive relationships with academic departments, employers, and alumni. This position will work in Career & Professional Development and provide students with one-on-one and group advising. As a career advisor, this position will collaborate with faculty in the classroom and teach students the career ready skills needed to successfully transition into the workplace. This position will be required to work some nights and weekends.

Student Advising: Provide students individual and group assistance in defining career options, developing career-ready competencies, and job/internship search strategies.
Presentations & Workshops: Develop, coordinate, and facilitate training and skill development workshops to include resume development, job/internship search strategies, career information technology, interviewing, and transition from college to career.
Teaching: Instruct/co-instruct one-credit Professional Skills courses on a regular basis.
Technology: Utilize various career management systems and campus software to deliver services. Communication/Programming
Resource Development: Coordinate resources to support services/events and web resources for student accessibility.
Faculty Development: Coordinate department-specific outreach, programming and customized seminars, workshops, and programs based on student needs assessment and faculty requests. Work with and advise faculty on methods to enhance career readiness.
Statistical Data Collection: Assist in the outcome data collection of all graduates to determine knowledge rate and percentage of those who have secured full-time, part-time, military, volunteer, continuing education, and assist those who are still seeking.
Assist in all aspects of employer relations, which include assisting employers in using Handshake, promoting attendance at career fairs, identify employers for professional skills events, and encouraging employers to use the full array of the services the office has to offer.
Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate undergraduate student employees on projects.

Bachelor's Degree in related field Demonstrated experience in Career & Professional Development or a closely related college/university student services area or campus recruiting experience Working knowledge of student career development process and current career issues Excellent presentation skills along with strong oral and written communication skills Flexibility to multi-task and make decisions in a fast-paced and changing work environment Demonstrated record and commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity Experience with MS Office and operating AV equipment. Must be strong advocate for diversity with proven ability to work with a diverse student population Extremely well-organized with excellent follow-through ability Able to balance many tasks simultaneously and work well independently Ability to demonstrate oral and written skills by clearly communicating ideas, facts, and abstract concepts to people who represent all constituencies in the university and to conduct small group sessions
