Beginning August 2021 Description: The Science Department Chair works with the Director of the Educational Program to define, articulate, and implement the School’s science curriculum from Kindergarten through grade nine. The Chair provides professional and academic leadership to faculty members of the department. He or she observes teaching, provides regular feedback, and conducts annual teaching evaluations. The Chair ensures that teachers have access to the tools and resources they need to enable each student to be optimally challenged, engaged, and supported in the process of learning.
The Science Department Chair is an advisor to groups of students. He or she will coach or lead other afternoon duties, and will perform duties to support the School’s residential life program. The Department Chair reports to the Director of the Educational Program and collaborates with three division heads regarding program development and implementation. This is a full-time, school-year position and is eligible for benefits. Campus housing may be available.
Qualifications: Candidates must have at least five years’ experience teaching at the elementary or middle school level and developing and implementing science curricula across multiple grade levels. A master’s degree in education or a related field is required. Candidates are expected to have strong communication skills and to be effective collaborators.
