Personal Qualifications and Attributes EAL certification/licensure required. Familiarity with WIDA assessment resources is preferred. Experience teaching in middle school years. Strength in Mathematics. Experience teaching in diverse co-taught environments and also providing academic support across subject areas. Special Education licensure or experience working with students with diverse learning needs is preferred. Demonstrated skill at differentiating within the classroom for students with diverse learning needs. Experience identifying, guiding, and monitoring interventions within a Multi-Tiered System of Support and/or Response to Intervention Framework required. Invested in pedagogical best practice and alignment with current educational research. Positive interpersonal skills enable the ability to develop positive relationships and collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds. A willingness to be flexible. Core Responsibilities Teach two ELL Support classes that provide targeted instruction on reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills while supporting ELL students with their content learning. Co-teaching across subject areas and offering support to LSS, ELL, and at-risk students. Co-teach, co-plan, and co-assess with content area teachers and other student support teachers to ensure appropriate support and challenge in learning for LSS students, ELL students, and students with diverse needs. Support general education teachers in implementing supports, accommodations, and interventions to support students with diverse needs. Serve as a case manager within CAC’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports. Use the WIDA Screener to assess incoming ELL students and recommend placement. Track ELL student progress once admitted. Partner with counselors, administration, and other staff to ensure care and support for children’s social, emotional, and learning success. Assess student learning and provide timely, quality feedback to improve student learning. Develop modified learning outcomes and individualized programs for students who require them. Participate in student referral processes to ensure students’ needs are understood and met. Engage in professional development to ensure research-supported practices in children’s instruction and care are used at CAC. Communicate directly and collaboratively with parents and families to support student learning and well-being. Able to develop and implement the IEP, initiates, and chairs team meetings. Supports the classroom teacher to monitor, assess and record the progress of the student working from an IEP at regular reporting periods |
