The missions of the Financial Aid office is to assist students and families in navigating the world of Higher Education and the costs associated with obtaining a degree. Successful candidates will be staff members that can work with their colleagues to help meet the mission of the Financial Aid office in serving and supporting our racially and ethnically diverse campus community. The Office of Financial Aid, at Bridgewater State University, administers and distributes Title IV federal, state, and local student aid funding to over 85% of the BSU student body annually. In addition, the Office of Financial Aid administers and is responsible for Alumni & Endowed Scholarship administration, educational benefits for Military and Veterans, Financial Literacy programing, the Student Federal Work-Study Program, and the Federal Stimulus Student Emergency Funds through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Grant (HEERF). Position Summary: The Staff Assistant, Financial Aid Advisor will provide student-focused support at a campus that prioritizes the success of our racially and ethnically diverse campus community. The Financial Aid Advisor has the opportunity to provide an understanding of registration, billing and financial aid policies and procedures, as well as the ability to explain policies and procedures to current students, prospective students, and families. In addition, the Staff Assistant, Financial Aid Advisor will be responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations, effective administration, and clear communications. The Staff Assistant will report directly to the Director of Financial Aid and will assist with audit preparations and DOE compliance visits. This is a full-time, 12-month APA position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement. Essential Duties: 1.Provides assistance to students and families with loans, grants, scholarships and the financial aid application process, and reviews applications to assure accurate and complete information.
