National Cathedral School
National Cathedral School announces a search for a science teacher in its Upper School (grades 9 to 12). NCS seeks to identify science teachers who are prepared to teach sections of physics, chemistry, and/or biology. Experience teaching in a physics-first sequence is desirable. NCS science teachers utilize a student-centered pedagogy and a laboratory-based science curriculum that makes extensive use of technology. Qualified candidates will be able to work creatively in a science department of 11 members and with faculty colleagues on a school-wide curricular review process. Master’s degree or higher preferred. NCS is committed to leadership in multicultural education and a culturally diverse faculty and staff. The school therefore seeks applications from candidates who will contribute to an atmosphere in which all are valued and supported. Teachers are expected to be on campus from 7:45 a.m. until approximately 4:00 p.m. Responsibilities include teaching, serving as an academic advisor for a small group of students, attending regular department, division, and faculty meetings, supervising one or more study halls, and working closely and collaboratively with science department colleagues. Additional duties may be assigned. Salaries are competitive, based on experience and include a full benefits package including professional development. Interested candidates should send an electronic application that includes a brief cover letter, résumé and the names and contact information of three to five references. In addition, applicants should submit a sample lesson that the candidate has been used with students. Please submit these materials as one combined attachment in Word or pdf format with “Full-time Science Teacher” in the subject line to: [email protected] .
