Description Baker Demonstration School, an independent progressive PK-8 school on Chicago’s North Shore, is seeking a Dean of Student Engagement to support 4th - 8th grade students in their personal and social-emotional growth starting July 1, 2021. The Dean of Student Engagement is a visible presence throughout the school providing support and building relationships with students, faculty and families. The Dean is responsible for student activities, leadership development and student discipline and works collaboratively with faculty, team leaders, and the Student Services and leadership teams on issues related to student support and wellness. Balancing work as student advocate with responsibility for managing student conduct, the Dean of Student Engagement plays a key role in leading and supporting a healthy, inclusive school climate and culture. This 11 month position includes teaching 1-2 classes or electives in the candidate’s area of expertise and advising 1-2 clubs. We value candidates who have a love of people - students, teachers, and parents; understand children from a developmental lens; demonstrate collaborative, strengths-based leadership centered in cultural competency, equity and inclusivity, and who are wise, decisive decision makers.
