Upper School Spanish Teacher Brooklyn Friends School (BFS) seeks an Upper School Spanish teacher. Founded in 1867, Brooklyn Friends School’s pillars of social justice, service learning/civic engagement, and Quakerism, serve as guideposts for our collective work. Guided by our mission, BFS provides a dynamic and vigorous learning environment, which cultivates compassionate, intellectually curious, and confident changemakers. Primary Responsibilities This position includes teaching four to five sections of Upper School Spanish as well as serving as an Upper School student advisor. All teachers are expected to be active community members, sharing supervisory duties and general support and care of the school community. Responsibilities include overseeing students' progress in all classes, serving as an advisor to a group of students, being in contact with parents, and other responsibilities such as participating in overnight trips, teaching our anti-bias curriculum, and leading service learning activities.

Qualifications Candidates should have native or native-like fluency in Spanish, the ability to teach upper-level Spanish classes, and teaching experience with and knowledge of pre-adolescent and adolescent students. Three or more years’ teaching experience, and a master’s degree, are expected. Teachers who have a dynamic presence in the classroom, an innovative and open approach to curriculum design, a collaborative approach to teaching, and who incorporate new technologies, are strongly encouraged to apply.
