Location: Hyde Park Campus Job Description: - Reviews, verifies, and posts credit (could include one or more of the following: AP, IB, A-Levels, placement tests, language competencies, and transfer credit) to the student records system; provides transfer credit evaluations for incoming and current students; and reviews reports for graduating students.
- Leads College degree audit system and processes (including one or more of the following: reviews and processes audit exceptions; coordinates with departments and members of the senior staff for annual audit updates; coordinates with Registrar Officeâ™s staff for annual update process; monitors and addresses issues and bugs as reported by advisers and departments; works with vendor on troubleshooting and development requests; leads training on using the auditing tool for CAAO staff as well as faculty/academic departments).
- Serves as liaison to Registrarâ™s Office and assists with ad hoc reporting for College data needs.
- Troubleshoots curricular issues related to student records and data collection, in conjunction with faculty and members of the Dean of Students executive staff and helps with other records, systems, and curricular projects as needed.
- Participates with other Assistant and Associate Deans in strategic planning for the College Academic Advising Office and for the Dean of Students Office.
- Supervises a set of Advisers, meeting regularly with them, engaging and supporting them in the work of the office and provides regular performance evaluations.
- Supports supervisees in managing challenging student situations, leaves of absences, and discipline issues.
- Prioritizes projects and assigns these to staff.
- Participates in the hiring of new staff.
- Provides staff development around various issues as appropriate, including regular trainings and updates to curricular programs and changes.
- Plays leadership role in the annual College Diploma Ceremonies.
- Helps with office communications.
- With other senior staff, plans for smooth interface between Academic Advising, the academic units and the Collegiate Divisions.
- Manages advisors who handle discipline cases and student problems and crises. Recommends effective advising strategies for these students.
- Recommends variations in policies regarding academic standings. Review, approve and process as necessary a variety of student petitions including professional school petitions.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications Education: - Bachelorâ™s degree.
- Advanced degree with a 6-year minimum gap between date of college graduation and appointment.
Experience: - Minimally 5 - 7 years professional work experience in higher education.
- Specialized knowledge of college student development and event planning.
Technical Skills or Knowledge: - Proficiency in Mac and PC environments.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and online organizational tools.
- Familiarity with Adobe graphic design/web development environments.
Preferred Competencies - Strong verbal and written communication skills including excellent editing/proofreading ability in English.
