Make a Difference in the WakeMed Community as a Behavioral Health Licensed Clinician at Cary Hospital As a Behavioral Health Licensed Clinician (BHLC), you are responsible for the provision of mental health and substance use services at WakeMed. Responsibilities include: - Conducting clinical assessments, diagnosing patients using DSM-5, ICD10-codes, and determining disposition.
- Focusing on diagnostic and functional evaluations, safety assessments, patient engagement and/or support system effectiveness.
- Collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team including physicians, psychiatry and psychology staff.
- Deciding and communicating disposition and level of care, including facilitating voluntary and involuntary commitments as directed by the physician.
- Assisting with diagnostic clarification, post-discharge treatment recommendation, identification of treatment options, high-risk behavior mitigation and prevention planning.
- Advising the patient, family and responsible medical providers, as needed, to improve quality and continuum of care.
- Participating in hospital and community initiatives that address mental health and substance use issues.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of relevant behavioral health, medical, and legal issues that impact patients and the hospital system.
- Documenting assessment, dispositions, interactions, conversations, etc. according to department guidelines and standards.
- Can work independently and prioritize and manage time efficiently.

Education Required: - Master’s Degree in Counseling or Psychology or Social Work Required
Experience Requirements: - 2 Years of Clinical – Mental Health or 2 Years of Clinical – Substance Abuse/Addiction Required
Licensure/Certification Requirements: - At least one of the below is required
- Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate
- Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Preferred
- Certified Notary Preferred
