Drake University is seeking an exceptional professional to serve as the Executive Director, Human Resources. The Executive Director is responsible for the human resources function, including recruitment and retention strategies, management of compensation, benefits, and retirement systems, performance evaluations, employee relations, and staff professional development. The Executive Director serves as an internal consultant to senior leadership and managers. Reporting to the Chief Administration Officer, this position is part of a results orientated leadership team within Administration. This position serves as a trusted advisor to campus leaders and is positioned to contribute to significant new programs and initiatives that will have a lasting impact on the University and its employees.

Preferred Education and Experience Professional HR Certification such as SPHR or SHRM-SCP Master’s Degree or JD
Qualifications Experience managing complex employment matters, including conducting workplace investigations A proven commmittment to diversity and inclusion An advanced understanding of state laws, statutes and federal laws and regulations impacting the Human Resource function A solid track record of influencing others while demonstrating excellent decision quality Ability to build and lead teams while holding others accountable for results Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Verified track record of driving new initiatives and programs to successful completion Proven success at cultivating strong relationships and creating partnerships at all levels within an organization to achieve results
